Public Relations Account Coordinator

Thompson & Company Public Relations

Account Coordinator |  In-office | Anchorage, AK

A proud 2026 Inc. "Best Places to Work" recipient!

Thompson & Co. Public Relations is hiring an Account Coordinator to join our Anchorage team. We're one of Alaska's largest and most respected PR agencies, with more than 25 years of experience helping clients across travel and tourism, telecommunications, resource development, nonprofits, education, and state and local governments tell their stories and make an impact.

We're a tight-knit crew that believes good work happens when people genuinely enjoy who they work with. Many of our team members have been here a decade or more, and they'll tell you the culture is the reason. That commitment to our people has earned us recognition as a Forbes "Agency of the Year" (2021), a PR News "Best Place to Work" (2020), and, most recently, a 2026 Inc. "Best Places to Work" recipient. If you're a strong communicator who's eager to learn, loves variety, and wants to build a career doing meaningful work in Alaska, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll do

The Account Coordinator is an entry-level role, and we'll invest in your growth from day one. You'll work alongside an experienced team to support a diverse roster of clients, with work that might include:

  • Supporting client communications across a wide range of industries and project types.

  • Helping coordinate events, from press conferences to rallies to trips across rural Alaska.

  • Creating content for social media, working with subject matter experts to get the details right.

  • Monitoring media and social channels and compiling reporting for clients.

  • Writing and editing press materials, pitches, and other client content.

  • Building and maintaining media lists and tracking coverage.

  • Pitching local, state, and national journalists on behalf of clients.

What you bring to the table

This is a role for someone who is curious, organized, and ready to hit the ground running. We're looking for candidates with:

  • A degree in communications, journalism, PR, marketing, English, or a related field, or comparable real-world experience in its place.

  • Strong writing skills and comfort working across different formats and voices.

  • An eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks without letting things slip.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and an instinct for what resonates.

  • A creative, problem-solving mindset and the confidence to take initiative.

  • Genuine interest in the work we do and the industries we serve.

Prior experience in communications, journalism, content creation, government, or any public-facing field is a plus, but not a requirement. We hire for potential and train for specifics.

A few more things you should know

  • This role has real room to grow. T&C is an active, expanding agency, and the people who thrive here tend to take ownership of their work and bring energy to the team. We nurture talent and aim to promote from within.

  • We're based in Anchorage, and we love Alaska. Passion for this state and its communities is a must. This includes responsible resource development and the state’s main economic drivers, such as oil and gas, tourism, fisheries, mining, etc.

  • This is a real entry point into a career in PR, not just a support role. Coordinators at T&C take on meaningful work quickly and grow into more senior positions.

Salary: $60,000 - $65,000  per year, based on experience. Benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance*, paid parental leave*, three weeks paid vacation, paid holidays, and remote work fridays*.

*Available upon meeting applicable eligibility and/or length-of-service requirements.
