The Department of Biology & Wildlife within the College of Natural Science & Mathematics is currently recruiting for a 3/4 time Administrative Assistant. This position serves as a key point of contact for faculty, staff, students, and visitors and is an integral part of the department's office staff. This role provides administrative support to the Department Chair, faculty, and professional staff within the department.

 

The Administrative Assistant's duties include a variety of administrative day-to-day tasks such as handling general inquiries and office correspondence, coordination of department activities, management of department calendars, scheduling meetings, purchasing office supplies, reconciling departmental purchases, assisting with program data collection, overseeing informational and record-keeping tasks, receiving and distributing mail, troubleshooting and resolving tech issues in classrooms, and other tasks as requested. If you possess exceptional organizational, technical, and customer service skills and enjoy working with students and faculty, this role may be a good fit for you.

 

To thrive in this role, candidates need to be self-motivated, able to provide superior customer service and have skills in organization, time management, and software generally used in an office environment (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, etc.). Training in the use of more specialized software used within the UAF system will be provided. You should value teamwork, strive to deliver services efficiently and accurately, and be adept at problem solving in a fast-paced environment. You must be able to respond positively and effectively to issues that arise within a diverse group of people. The ideal candidate will be able to quickly learn and adapt to new procedures and technologies.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma and 1 year experience implementing support functions, customer service techniques, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks, AK. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage.
