The Office of the Chief Information Officer for UAF Nanook Technology Services (NTS) is seeking students to join our team! We are looking for highly motivated and friendly students of any major. Typical responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Assisting with documentation and project related activities
• Answering phone calls
• Responding to requests (walk-in, phone, email, etc.)
• Project Management
• Prepare dashboard reports and status updates for projects
• Answer phone calls
• Other duties as needed
Main Responsibilities will also include:
• Conduct online research for new initiatives
• Escalate requests to NTS staff as needed
• Assist with team meetings and department events
The CIO Student Office Assistant may be requested to assist other Nanook Technology Services staff with special projects.
We are seeking a customer-oriented and friendly individual to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a basic understanding of technology and major desktop and mobile operating systems, with a keen interest in learning more. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential, with the ability to interact professionally over phone and video calls. The role requires efficient work, particularly in an unsupervised environment, and the ability to handle stressful situations with tact and discretion. Demonstrated problem-solving skills are needed to identify, prioritize, and resolve technology issues promptly.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Experience sufficient to be able to learn skills in information systems technology and customer service.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Experience in the use of modern operating system software and technology hardware.
• Applicant should be enrolled as a student in a minimum of 6 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.0, or a newly enrolled student, or the intent to enroll in 6 credit hours during the upcoming semester
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with campus standard software such as Zoom, Microsoft Office, Adobe and
Google Workspace, etc.
• Basic knowledge of major operating systems (Windows and Mac)
• Able to understand technical instructions and willingness to learn
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Energetic and enthusiastic about working with new technologies
Position Details:
This position is a part-time student employee position up to 20 hours per week while school is in session. Additional hours may be available during the summer and winter breaks. Student Assistant positions are fully on-site on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. Starting hourly rate is $16.00/hr. Compensation is commensurate with experience and type of work assigned.
