Alaskans in Parks Internship Program
Protect Our Land. Launch Your Career!
Preference will be given to candidates located in or with close ties to Alaska.
SCA and the National Park Service are pleased to announce the renewal of their NPS Alaskans in Parks Internship Program! This Program consists of 12-Week Expense-Paid Summer Internships starting with orientation in Anchorage May 18.
The Student Conservational Association (SCA) has partnered with the National Park Service (NPS) to provide summer internships for Alaskans to work in the National Parks that are located in their backyards. Since 2013, the Alaskans in Parks program has provided career development internships for under-represented, diverse, and rural Alaskan residents interested in conservation. Eleven chosen candidates will be placed in individual internship placements across the state, with each individual serving at one park with one area of focus for the duration of their summer. This is a 13-week, full time, paid summer internship (specific dates of internship vary).
These positions range in focus with opportunities available in fields such as: Visitor Services/Interpretation, Wildlife Biology, Fisheries, Trail Work, Backcountry Ranger, Habitat Restoration, Museum Curatorial, Information Technology, and more! Positions will have interns working in the field performing tasks that vary from stepping off a float plane to a backcountry field site to collect crucial salmon population data to researching and presenting interpretive programs to park visitors on topics of the intern’s interest.
**More information on National Park Service sites and position assignments to be announced February 2023**
Please be sure the “Interests” section of your SCA profile is filled out accurately to reflect your career interests, as these rankings will be used in determining the focus of interns’ placements.
