Position Summary:
The University of Alaska Anchorage's Community and Technical College (CTC) is a major center for development and delivery of career and technical education programs within the community. The Computer Networking Technology program is recruiting qualified applicants for our pool of adjunct instructors.
Duties:
The University of Alaska Anchorage's Community and Technical College (CTC) is a major center for development and delivery of career and technical education programs within the community. The Computer Networking Technology program is recruiting qualified applicants for our pool of adjunct instructors.
Job duties include teaching courses in the Computer Networking Technology program; identifying and meeting the needs of the students; contributing to curriculum development; maintaining up-to-date knowledge of subject areas; and being available for contact with students.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Adjunct faculty are responsible for teaching courses in the Computer Networking Technology program.
• The instructor is responsible for identifying and meeting the needs of the students, contributing to curriculum development, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of subject areas.
• The ability to work with colleagues and students of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds is a must.
Preferred Experience & Education:
Teaching assignments are determined by college needs and/or the individual's background and experience.
Required Experience & Education:
An Associate's degree (Bachelor's degree preferred) from a regionally accredited institution indicating academic preparation in a technical field is required. In addition, at least two years of recent full time industry and/or teaching experience in computer networking and related computing hardware and operating systems is required. Personally must maintain up-to-date, current level of industry certification for courses that are aught. Knowledge of networking and telecommunications job skills with the ability to encourage students to use critical thinking and problem solving skills. Demonstrated knowledge of current software (and the hardware used to run the software), including Windows 2000/2003 Server, Windows 2000 and Windows XP Professional. Required certifications: Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) for Windows 2000/2003 or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), A+, and Network+ or CCNA. Desirable certifications: Security+, Server+, CCNP, and CCAI. Must have the flexibility to teach classes day, evening, and/or weekends hours.
Salary Information:
Salary is based on the number of previous semesters teaching experience within the University of Alaska.
