Position Summary:

Mat-Su College is recruiting qualified applicants for its pool of adjunct instructors in Fine Arts. We are seeking applicants who possess a desire to help students succeed in reaching their goals. Mat-Su College is a community campus of the University of Alaska Anchorage. The campus is located in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, the fastest growing region of Alaska. Applicants must be available to work within Alaska during the length of the assignment. Join us and help turn student aspirations into reality!



Adjunct faculty members are responsible for preparing and delivering one or more courses in a manner consistent with approved Course Content Guides. Course content must be appropriate for Student Learning Outcomes and class delivery mode (i.e., face-to-face). Adjunct faculty are expected to prepare and submit a syllabus including university policy statements, hold classes and office hours consistent with required contact hours, evaluate student learning, provide feedback and respond to student questions in a timely manner, track and submit student success data, submit final grades prior to registrar's deadlines, and collect student artifacts for assessment. All adjunct faculty will be evaluated for teaching effectiveness.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Candidates will be evaluated on suitability of their graduate-level academic coursework and preparation, past teaching experiences, expertise and experience relevant to the effective teaching of their specific field, and potential for providing high-quality instruction to undergraduate students in assigned courses at Mat-Su College.


Typical Experience:

College-level teaching experience is preferred. Experience teaching online preferred but not required.


Required Education or Training:

The successful candidate will have a Master's Degree in Fine Arts or Studio Art as appropriate to the course being taught is required.


Salary Information:


Adjunct instructors are hired on a semester-by-semester appointment. Qualified applicants for this position will be placed into a hiring pool from which instructors will be hired as needed. Acceptance into the hiring pool does not constitute an offer of an appointment, nor does having worked one semester guarantee that a position will be available the following semester; hiring decisions are made on a semester-by-semester basis according to the needs of that semester's schedule. Salary is based on the number of previous semesters teaching experience within the University of Alaska.

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year.
