Accounting Supervisor (Virtual Opportunity)

This position supports Sealaska’s Assistant Controller and is responsible for ensuring the organization’s financial compliance in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and adherence to effective accounting controls, policies, and procedures.

The Accounting Supervisor will support all areas of Sealaska’s general ledger, including cash, A/R, A/P, and fixed assets. For this virtual position, we are seeking applicants that reside in the Alaska, Pacific or Mountain times zones within the US. 


  • Work in assigned areas individually and/or by supervising other in completing the tasks.
  • Ensures Sealaska’s corporate general ledger account balances are timely and accurately maintained and reported.
  • Oversight of the daily activity of the junior accounting staff at the Corporate level.
  • Ensures Sealaska’s shareholders receive timely and accurate distributions and payments.
  • Communication with the various departments to ensure appropriate reporting.
  • Assist Sealaska with its financial reporting including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and documentation of its headquarters and subsidiary accounting transactions.
  • Analyze department procedures and practices to ensure implementation and adherence to best practices accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional work ethic
  • Credible, ethical, clean financial history and able to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
  • Solid understanding of accounting theory and accounting practices
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work within the team and independently

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, Accounting major
  • Four years of corporate, government, or public accounting experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or other ERP software a plus
