UAA General Support Services is recruiting for a temporary Graphic Designer for our Copy & Print Center team. UAA General Support Services (a unit within Facilities & Campus Services) is a diverse team that includes the Mailroom, Copy & Print Center, Surplus & Relocation, Property Operations, and Recycling functions. This position is part of the UAA Copy & Print team, providing graphic design services for print products in support of a variety of customers, both internal and external. The Graphic Designer reports to the Copy & Print Center Supervisor.

 

To thrive the successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills and experience related to production of appealing print and digital design materials. They will be detail oriented with strong quality and productivity orientation. Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills are vital, to include the ability to work with diverse personalities with tact and diplomacy. The ideal candidate will have a sharp eye for color, composition, layout, typography, and design and also be open and accepting of feedback.

 

The temporary Graphic Designer position will be full time (40 hours per week), Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. They will be expected to immediately jump in to tackle new and ongoing projects from creation of brochures and rack cards to multi-page and multi-piece projects, as well as large format graphics (banners, wall graphics). Adherence to UAA branding and image system standards will be critical, as is the ability to meet deadlines and be timely and dependable with work attendance.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Experience: Minimum one year relevant experience in professional graphic design for print publication.

 

Education/Training: Bachelors degree in Graphic Design, Fine Art Design, Marketing/Communications or related field and one year relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

Position Details:

 

This position is located on the UAA Main campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, temporary non-exempt staff position. New hires will be placed on the https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/compensation/salary.php, Grade 77 Temp Step 1, based on education and experience.
