Kenai Peninsula College in Soldotna, Alaska is looking for a skilled Crafts and Trades Maintenance Technician to join the Facilities team. The person in this role will leverage their technical expertise - from plumbing to carpentry to electrical and boiler systems - to ensure a safe and welcoming campus.

This individual will be responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled work associated with maintenance, repair and upkeep of the college's facilities and grounds. This includes campus systems like HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, boilers, and fire systems. Responsibilities also include interior and exterior building repairs, snow/ice removal and landscaping. This person will serve as a knowledge expert and resource for the KPC facilities and maintenance team.

To thrive in this role, you should have a broad understanding of building maintenance/construction and the ability to maintain a safe and secure workplace. Strong verbal and written communication skills, computer technology skills, knowledge if custodial, landscape, vehicle and building maintenance are important. The ideal candidate will also have strong math, reasoning and problem solving skills. Should be able to meet the physical demands of the job.

Minimum Qualifications:

Journeyman level or equivalent certification in a specialized field including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing or electrical; or a minimum of ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have a valid Alaska driver's license or the ability to get one within 60 days, with a driving record that meets UAA requirements.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Kenai Peninsula College campus in Soldotna, Alaska. Salary Information: CT2 /Step 1 $27.40/hr. (See Article 9.2 in the L6070 Collective Bargaining Agreement, https://www.alaska.edu/hr/labor/labor-relations/local-6070.php#collapse3d13e356).

This position is represented by the Alaska Higher Education Crafts & Trades Employees (L6070).

This position is a term-funded position and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion.
