Summary

This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Alaska Region, Office of the Regional Director, Division of Environmental and Cultural Resources, Branch of Regional Archeology in Anchorage, Alaska.

Duties

As an Archaeologist, your typical work assignments and/or responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conducts field surveys in remote Alaskan locations for Section 106 compliance.
  • Identifies and evaluates historic properties for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places.
  • Conducts Section 106 consultation with other Federal and State governmental agencies, Tribal organizations, landowners, and the public.
  • Responsible for writing Section 106 reports.
  • Conducts Section 106 mitigation projects when deemed appropriate.
  • Manages artifact and collection indexing and conducts laboratory analysis of collected material.
