JOB STATEMENT/PURPOSE:

This person will be in charge of evening events that happen at the Alaska Native Heritage Center. This involves making sure that events run smoothly at the Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assess the staffing needs for events, and ensure all aspects of the program are covered while troubleshooting problems or issues that may arise.
  2. Operate complex equipment such as audio/visual equipment, DVD, VHS, lighting, and various theatre equipment.
  3. Communicate through use of walkie-talkie.
  4. Ensure that there is appropriate staff scheduled for the program and various events within the program, ensure that staff receive their breaks and lunches, and fill in where needed.
  5. Develop solutions as well as keeping communication through ticketing, maintenance, and staff, and ensure the program stays on schedule.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  1. 1-2 years’ experience with ANHC policy and procedures, and program processes.
  2. Ability to think and react quickly to changes, and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
  3. CPR and First Aid certification required.
  4. High School diploma or equivalent.
  5. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  6. Must be able to work independently. 
  7. Demonstrated ability to work a team environment.
  8. Able to communicate successfully with other staff.
  9. Outgoing and positive professional verbal communication skills.
  10. Professional written communication skills, including proper grammar usage, vocabulary, and spelling.
  11. Demonstrated ability to work well with people in a professional manner.
  12. Demonstrated ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Additional duties as assigned based on needs of the business.

Weather:

  1. Indoors: Primarily in an environmentally controlled office; requires most or all work to be done inside.

Noise level:

  1. Quiet to moderate.

Physical requirements:

  1. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
  2. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
