JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for preparing daily, weekly, and monthly accounting duties. Engages in accounting or finance projects as directed by the Accounting Manager or Supervisor. Provides a superior level of support to members and credit union employees at all times.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly general ledger account reconciliation processes. Maintains supporting documentation for the account reconciliation.
  • Responsible for preparing or positing journal entries as needed. Maintains supporting documentation for the journal entry.
  • Support Finance/Accounting department with recurring accounting tasks.
  • Participates with the credit union cash management process to ensure proper balances are maintained for cash on hand and on deposit at correspondent financial institutions or service providers.
  • Support department with the preparation or posting of finance and accounting related wire transfers.
  • Assists with miscellaneous tasks as directed by the Accounting Supervisor such as tax reporting, processing corporate cards, and accounts payable processing.
  • Supports the annual unclaimed property process.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists Accountants with operational questions and serves as backup for these positions. May also assist with staff training.
  • Completes other responsibilities and special projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager or Supervisor based on the needs of the department.
  • Ensures specific responsibilities are completed timely and accurately and accounting calculations and entries are error free. Prepares neat and accurate supporting documentation. Conducts a thorough self-review of all work prior to submitting to the Accounting Manager or Supervisor for review. Develops recommendations and suggestions for the Accounting Manager or Supervisor related to resolving problems that occur in the department or improving effectiveness or efficiency with in the department.
  • Provides a superior level of service to fellow employees in all areas of the credit union. Is prompt and courteous at all times. Does everything within ability and authority possible to assist fellow employees and members with issues and concerns. Refers problems outside level of knowledge or authority to the Accounting Manager for resolution. Follows through on commitments and follows up as promised.
  • Meets the current standards as established for the department in the completion of all assigned duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications for the position are an Accounting or other business-related degree or 3 years of equivalent accounting or related financial institution work experience.  Must be very proficient with Excel and have strong analytical skills.  Must also have excellent oral and written communication skills, and be detail oriented with good organizational skills. Responsible for abiding and complying with the policy for compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering laws and regulations (BSA/AML) and the policy for compliance with office of foreign assets control laws and regulations (OFAC).

 

This position may be filled at the I, II, or III level depending on the applicants experience and skill. This position is not eligible for remote work. Only applicants who meet the minimum requirements for the position will be considered for an interview. This position is open until filled.
