JOB SUMMARY:

Member Relationship Officers provide in-person member-centric service and take proactive steps to positively engage our members and expand their relationship with the credit union. They have thorough knowledge and understanding of all credit union products and services and how they could fit into members financial goals. They will focus on opening new memberships, explaining and walking members through our technologies, assisting members with transactions, processing loan requests and helping members to empower themselves financially.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides member walk-throughs on different technologies offered by the credit union such as ITM’s, Video Appointments, Online Access, Mobile Deposit and any other technologies utilized by the credit union.
  • Actively engages with individuals in the branch. Builds relationships with members to better understand their financial picture and educate them on CU1 products and services through our needs-based selling approach.
  • Processes all member transactions in an efficient and accurate manner. Researches and resolves member account issues.
  • Assists members in initiation, maintenance and closure of credit union products and services by identifying their financial needs and recommending the use of appropriate products and services. Assists and encourages all other branch employees with cross selling credit union products and services.
  • Responsible for loan originations, processing and obtaining all necessary documentation to complete a loan package.
  • Prepares and processes all documents and proceeds for approved loans, maintaining all loan documents through closing in an orderly, accurate manner.
  • Effectively demonstrates Service through CU1LUV in all member interactions. Works closely with branch supervisors to further develop their skills.
  • Reviews suspicious or unusual transactions and items. Approves transactions within defined authority levels. Uses judgment along with defined policies and procedures to determine if the transaction or item is valid. Issues transaction overrides and removes flags when needed within defined authority levels.
  • Accurately generates and obtains all necessary documentation in regards to member accounts, certificates, IRAs and any other paperwork necessary for member transactions.
  • Assists in the maintenance, security and safety of the branch. Follows the procedures for opening and closing the branch.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Projects a positive attitude during all contacts with members consistent with Credit Union 1’s mission statement and the CU1LUV Pledge in order to maintain and contribute to a high level of member satisfaction.
  • Responsible for appearance of branch to include lobby, parking lot and general cleanliness. 
  • Adheres to the credit union’s dress code policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a high school graduate or equivalent, with a minimum of  one year financial institution or retail sales experience required; consumer loan experience is preferred. Current Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) certification preferred or obtained within one year of start date.  Must possess exceptional communication skills through all mediums whether it be in-person, video, telephone or written. Must have the ability to consistently meet sales goals.  Must project a positive sales attitude and proactively evaluate and present credit union products and services that best meet a person’s financial needs.  Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently while adjusting priorities to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.  Responsible for abiding by and complying with the policy for compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering laws and regulations (BSA/AML) and the policy for compliance with office of foreign asset control laws and regulations (OFAC).
