Ilanka Community Health Center (ICHC) is a program of the Native Village of Eyak (NVE).  This position is part of the Behavioral Health Team and works to provide compassionate, client-centered, and evidence-based care.

This position requires passing a background check and fingerprint-based criminal history check in accordance with Indian Child Welfare Act and 7 Alaska Administrative Code 10.900-7 AAC 10.990.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide individual therapy, assessments, treatment planning, case management, and client advocacy as needed.
  • Provide individual, family, and group counseling.
  • Creates individualized treatment plans with clients including clearly defined treatment goals and measurable objectives and conducts regular treatment plan reviews assessing client’s progress to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
  • Collaborates with the Medication Assisted Treatment team to provide consultation, assessment, and individual and group therapy for clients with opioid and alcohol use disorders. 
  • Work with Telehealth Psychiatric providers as well as collaborate with ICHC Providers for integrated patient care, as needed. 
  • Provide behavioral health consultations in an integrated care setting.
  • Consistently and accurately documents patient encounters using the Electronic Medical Record within recommended timeframes, not to exceed 72 hours.
  • Participates in a variety of collaborations, including but not limited to quality assurance, quality improvement, risk management, peer evaluation, staff meetings and credentialing and privileging.
  • Supports the mission, vision, and philosophy of ICHC as evidenced by compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Participates in appropriate professional development programs to attain and maintain role competency.
  • Liaison with other NVE programs including inpatient treatment referral for substance use disorders, elder care, and domestic violence.
  • Participation in community-wide health care activities such as Community Task Groups, ICHC sponsored Group Meetings, Health Fairs, and NVE hosted events, some of which will be outside of regularly scheduled hours.
  • Complies with State and Federal laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and security of information in accordance with HIPAA and HITECH regulations, which includes only accessing appropriate information needed to perform job duties and assuring information is only released to authorized entities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrates a high level of confidence and clinical proficiency in carrying out a range of behavioral health services.
  • Has strong analytical, and diagnostic skills
  • Properly utilizes CPT and ICD10 coding for client encounters to accurately bill for services.
  • Willing to reach out for support and guidance when dealing with complex, unfamiliar, and unpredictable situations.
  • Demonstrates respect for differences in cultural and social responses to health and illness and incorporates those beliefs into treatment as appropriate.
  • Supports and facilitates positive interaction with patients, co-workers, and community members as evidenced by professional maturity and respect for others.
  • Proficient in the use of or ability to be trained in Electronic Medical Records. 

Education and Experience Requirement

  • Master of Science/Arts in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or any acceptable related field, from an accredited organization, is required.
  • Holds a current license as a Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, or similar license, or be working towards gaining licensure within 3 years.
  • Behavioral Health Aide (BHA) Certification or the active pursuit of BHA certification during employment may be needed for non-LCSW applicants.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR Pro Certification or the ability to become certified within one month of hire.
  • Trauma-informed treatment training or education, such as EMDR, or pursuit of trauma-informed treatment training during employment.
  • Experience providing therapeutic interventions to children preferred.  
  • Experience providing individual and group therapy for substance use disorders is preferred.
  • Experience with healthcare information systems, such as electronic health records.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer in an office within medical primary care clinic.
  • Occasionally lift 15 lbs., bend, and/or crouch to complete work.
  • Regularly use mental, oral, and written methods to complete work.
  • Usual tasks do not involve exposure to blood, body fluid or tissues, but job has potential for exposure to infectious pathogens.  Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), when appropriate, is required.
