The Alaska Safety Alliance (ASA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to ensure the availability of a highly trained workforce, sufficient to staff Alaska’s industries safely and competitively, now and in the future. ASA provides classroom and computer-based training and strives to ensure all employees are knowledgeable and prepared to work safely in Alaska’s unique environment. We also manage the North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC), which develops and maintains standardized health, safety, and environmental training programs for employees on Alaska’s North Slope and at industrial sites throughout the state. ASA utilizes a digital platform to track worker training. We simplify the training and reporting process for employers and ensure training is consistent and verifiable. We also create custom training solutions to meet the evolving needs of industry leaders.
eLearning and LMS Specialist
ASA is seeking an eLearning and LMS Specialist to assist with administration and maintenance of ASAOnline, our Learning Management System (LMS). You will collaborate closely with the team to develop e-learning products and services to be delivered via ASAOnline and maintain workflow for enrollment, testing, grading, certification, and other program requirements. In this role, you will be a key contributor in ASA’s integration and use of technology throughout the educational library, including course development through Storyline 360 and other platforms as needed. You will also develop promotional, marketing, and communication materials, and maintain and distribute the organization’s monthly newsletter.
What you’ll bring to the job:
- Previous nonprofit or member organization experience is desirable. BA/BS degree, or equivalent prior work experience is a plus
- Experience with industry safety training requirements and annual reporting a plus
- Experience developing educational programs strongly preferred Excellent oral and written communication skills, customer service skills, and organizational skills
- Experience with the following components/systems required:
- Proficiency in Learning Management Systems • Content authoring tools such as Captivate and Articulate • CRM or email marketing platforms (MailChimp preferred)
- Experience with the following technical components/systems preferred:
- Content management systems (WordPress a plus) • SCORM • E-commerce • Design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. • Webcasting • Video and audio editing experience
What you’ll own:
- Creation and configuration of LMS courses and educational initiatives and/or enhancements to existing courses.
- Assisting course authors with publishing course content.
- Creating, managing, and enforcing LMS content publication standards, ensuring courses integrate into Alaska Safety Alliance systems and meet functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.
- Collaborate with ASA team to troubleshoot and resolve user issues with the LMS and activities, escalating to a higher support tier as needed.
- Be the point person for ASAOnline. Monitor “issue tickets” and inform ASA staff on the status of each ticket.
- Collaborate with analysts, designers, and internal system owners in testing new courses and applications, including quality assurance of e-learning content and course configuration.
- Assist with development of customized and standard reports generated from LMS, including learner performance, question performance, and other reports as needed.
- Assist in data collection and reporting of annual audit reports via the LMS. Provide LMS usage reports.
- Collaborate with internal database administrators and vendors to assist with quality assurance, program logic, and data processing. Provide input for course and application development projects in support of business operations.
- Execute delivery of webinars with other departments as needed.
- Support the team in their efforts to: set business goals and processes, identify solutions, and prepare or monitor budgets.
- Implement project plans, adhere to timelines, and track milestones for such initiatives as they apply to the LMS and other platforms.
Other duties:
- Create marketing and promotional materials such as newsletters, handouts, displays, newsletters, and presentations.
- Distribute monthly newsletter through MailChimp and maintain audience contact list(s).
- Take notes and compose minutes for Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and other committee meetings.

Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software (Microsoft Office Products, LMS).
