Position Summary:
Sackett Hall is a unique residential facility at the Univeristy of Alaska Fairbanks Kuskokwim Campus in Bethel. It is a small dormitory with a warm community feel. A job here is an opportunity to work closely with some of the most inspiring and ambitious young people from the YK Delta. We provide food service in the dorm and while it is a cafeteria setting, because we are small, we have more flexibility than a typical cafeteria. We strive to provide healthy, interesting and wholesome menu options. The cook position welcomes creativity and will provide a great chance to expand your skills in the kitchen. 20Maintain inventory and follow the FIFO standard, first in first out for stock rotation.Essential 30Ensure cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen and all areas of the dining room to include sweeping, mopping, cleaning the juice machine, refrigerators, grill, hot food table and microwave on a daily basis.Essential 50Prepare nutritional meals for dorm residential program to include all food groups. Assist with menu planning for dorm residents and other university cohorts who utilize the food service program.Essential

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Experience cooking and baking in a cafeteria style food service program for 35 or more people.
Familiar with temperature uniformity for various food dishes.
Menu planning skills required, the cook must be well versed in the design of delivering a nutritious menu.
The individual who holds this position must be able to work as part of team, under the direction of the head cook, but must also be able to work independently. Knowledge of food inventory and ordering.

Typical Experience:
Cafeteria style meal preparation.
Menu planning experience.

Required Education or Training:
Certificate in food service preparation or an equivalency of 5 years cooking experience.
Must have a current State of Alaska Food Handler's permit.

Salary Information:

This is a full-time, 10-month, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and New hires will be placed on the, Grade 75, based on education and experience.
