Job Description
The Just Transition Collective (JTC) seeks a dynamic and highly motivated individual to advance the JTC’s commitment to growing the Just Transition movement in Alaska. The JTC Director will focus on the areas of partner coordination, strategy development, fundraising, partnership building, and structural development in order to build a shared visionary path for Alaska by addressing the growing political, economic, and ecological crises we face.
The position works closely with all members of the JTC. The Director is supervised by 3 of the Just Transition Collective partner organizations and is accountable to all the JTC organizations. Currently, the Collective is Fairbanks Climate Action Coalition, Native Movement, AKPIRG, The Alaska Center, Native Conservancy, and Alaska Community Action On Toxics. The goals of this Collective are to inspire and catalyze action, connect and elevate partnerships, amplify the immediate needs of our communities, and create a shared narrative to transition from an extractive economy to regenerative, place-based economies in Alaska. JTC uses the phrase Kohtr'elneyh, “Remembering Forward,” to recognize that the solutions we seek already exist within the foundation of Indigenous cultures.
Work Environment / Benefits
Physical office space is available in Anchorage and Fairbanks. This position is able to work from home, and candidates from rural Alaska are encouraged to apply. The Director is expected to attend frequent Zoom meetings and attend occasional events in person throughout Alaska.
This position will be managed by several partners of the Just Transition Collective from across the Collective. Pay, benefits, and other administrative functions will be housed at Native Movement, which provides greater than average Paid Time Off (PTO), as well as “Harvest” and “Ceremony/Spiritual” leave and ample paid holidays. Additionally, Native Movement’s standard work week is four days – Monday through Thursday – and Fridays are paid “wellness” days.

Below are the main activities of this position; however, the JTC is adaptable and focused on responding to current events, and candidates willing to be flexible in their work are preferred.
