Position Summary:

The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Department of Economics is searching for a bright creative scholar with interests in applied microeconomics. UAA's College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP) is a dynamic academic resource that serves and reflects Anchorage, Alaska's largest metropolitan community. Accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the College has an impressive faculty who bring a wide range of academic and industry expertise to students and community partners. CBPP students represent all age groups, ethnicities and backgrounds. UAA is an open enrollment campus which means we serve a diverse set of students in terms of age, life experiences, socioeconomic status and educational backgrounds. UAA is located in Southcentral Alaska, the ancestral homelands of the Dena'ina Athabascan, Ahtna Athabascan, Alutiiq/Sugpiaq and Eyak peoples. Duties:

%Engaging in high quality research that informs public policy and that leads to publications in top journals. Work collaboratively on research projects with members of the Department of Economics. Teach one course - principles of economics per semester. Develop a strong record of research excellence in the areas mentioned above.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

1. Develop a strong record of research excellence in the areas listed above.

2. Work collaboratively with faculty in the Department of Economics.

3. Teach one principles of economics course per semester.

 

Typical Experience:

1. Stata or R, MATLAB or Mathematica, ArcGIS or QGIS.

2. Strong economic modeling skills.

 

Required Education or Training:

1. Ph.D. in Economics or closely related field.

2. Strong analytical, research, statistical, and quantitative skills.

3. Ability to write clearly, professionally, and persuasively.

4. Effective communication skills.

5. Evidence of potential for teaching success

6. Demonstrated ability to contribute to the department's diversity initiatives.

 

Salary Information:

 

This is a full-time, term-funded, 9 month base assignment with 3 month contract extension (12 month), exempt position complete with both a competitive salary and https://alaska.edu/jobs/benefits.php. Salary will be $70,000 per year.
