Work Day: 10 hours per day/4 days per week
FTE: Full time, 1.0 FTE
Salary: M-8, $27.09 to $31.14 per hour, DOE

Job Summary
The Senior Carpenter is responsible for various types of carpentry work within Anchorage School District facilities. The location of the work station is subject to contract language concerning shift location/bids. Maintenance employees work a 4/10 schedule with weekends and holidays off. Job Requirements
The following are required:

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. A minimum of three years of experience within the last five years in one or more carpentry related crafts.
  3. The following are preferred:

  1. Minimum of four years of experience within the last six years in one or more of the building crafts required. Work experience must evidence ability to perform tasks assigned.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Interprets and works from plans, prints, specifications, and established maintenance procedures.
  2. Estimates materials and labor requirements for projects, including designing and/or fabricating required parts.
  3. Installs and repairs floor, ceiling, and ceramic tile, sheet rock, cove base, plastic laminates, and carpet.
  4. Performs various types work on cabinetry and related hardware.
  5. Performs other related duties such as roof, door, and related hardware repair.
  6. Maintains knowledge of the construction trade involving both remodeling and new construction using standard practices and procedures relative to the carpentry trade.
  7. Maintains knowledge of alterations, repair and construction of buildings, equipment, and fixtures, finish work as it pertains to application, repair, and replacement of laminate, FRP, cabinets, doors, roofs, carpets, ceilings, and concrete.
  8. Uses and maintains hand and mechanical carpentry tools.
  9. Complies with and enforces workplace safety regulatory requirements.
  10. Routinely works at heights over 20 feet.
  11. Writes reports as required.
  12. Proficiently uses appropriate computer applications for assigned areas of responsibility.
  13. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others.
  14. Works cooperatively with others and within established maintenance and safety procedures.
