Job Summary
The recruiter supports the recruitment of Anchorage School District employees. This position ensures the district has a robust recruitment program that includes board guardrail monitoring, managing online recruitment tools, and recruitment budget. This position reports to the senior director of Talent Management and has a retirement association with the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS).
Job Requirements
The following are required:
- A bachelor’s degree in human resources administration or a related field. Equivalent experience, education, and training will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
- Three years of human resources related experience.
- Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification or equivalent, such as SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.
- Proficiency with Windows computers and applications, such as Microsoft Office.
- Skills and experience organizing and delivering relevant content.
- Experience in collecting, analyzing, and presenting data.
The following are preferred:
- Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification through HR Certification Institute or equivalent certification through Society for Human Resource Management.
- Experience in a school district or other public organization in a human resources capacity, administering collective bargaining agreements.
- Knowledge of and experience working with HR information systems.
- Knowledge of teacher certification and Title I compliance.
Essential Job Functions
- Develops and implements a comprehensive recruitment program designed to support District board guardrails and the Anchorage and surrounding communities.
- Exemplifies and ensures a department service culture of excellence in customer service and collaboration with HR internal and external customers.
- Develops and implements models of professional development evaluation for associated recruitment efforts and programs related to the recruitment of a diverse workforce.
- Keeps current on research and best practices around recruitment and professional learning.
- Collects, analyzes, and presents data to determine whether effective recruitment efforts are being met.
- Supervises and evaluates performance and directs workload of assigned staff.
- Collaborates with ASD senior leadership to support divisional recruitment needs and develops initiatives to support those divisions.
- Collaborates with the onboarding generalist in identifying recruitment needs and coordinating recruitment efforts with hiring managers
- Develops, prepares, generates, and analyzes ongoing and ad-hoc reports pertaining to employee recruitment.
- Adapts established procedures to practical situations, makes decisions, develops recommendations for system improvements, manages multiple tasks, organizes, plans prioritizes, and implements/completes assignments.
- Assists in the development of departmental goals, objectives, and systems.
- Assists the senior director in the daily administration of other human resources services as directed.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
- Establishes procedures for practical situations and makes decisions or develops recommendations for system improvements.
- Establishes and maintains productive working relationships with others, especially from a consultative perspective.
- Communicates effectively verbally and in writing with all levels of management, supervision, and other ASD personnel.
