Job Summary
The Student Success Coach addresses the unique needs of eligible Migrant Education students as identified by program, district, and school goals and provides supplemental support for academic success. This position collaborates and builds relationships with school staff and enhances family engagement to improve attendance, on-track, and graduation rates. This position has a retirement association with the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS).
 
Job Requirements
The following are required:

  1. A bachelor's degree.

The following are preferred:

  1. School counseling, teaching, or tutoring experience.
  2. Knowledge of different cultures and various communication and learning styles.
  3. Experience working with diverse populations.
  4. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Ability to be self-directed, prioritize tasks, and work independently.
  6. Ability to assimilate and apply new knowledge and routines quickly and accurately.
  7. Willingness to follow a flexible work schedule which may change periodically to accommodate delivery of services.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Serves as a liaison between the district Migrant Education Program and schools to advertise and promote the program and assist in identification and recruitment of Migrant Education students.
  2. Provides direct tutoring and other supports to students as needed.
  3. Effectively networks and strategizes with district, school, and community partners.
  4. Collaborates with students, parents, and school teams to improve attendance, grades, test scores, behavior, and graduation readiness.
  5. Responds to parent, student, teacher, and staff requests for assistance with needs and services.
  6. Maintains positive communication with parents, the district office, school counselors, nurses, community, school, federal programs, and other personnel to address the needs of individual students to improve services and outcomes.
  7. Coordinates meetings and activities that meet the unique and identified needs of Migrant Education students.
  8. Offers educational opportunities on an individual, small group, or large group basis according to needs and academic achievement of students, including planning and implementation of one or more regular school-based group(s).
  9. Provides social service referrals, for students and families, to community agencies when appropriate.
  10. Develops and implements effective systems to monitor and analyze student data and implement effective data based decision making to respond to needs based on data.
  11. Uses technology to track and maintain records of Migrant services provided, including literacy support such as books or related resources.
  12. Works with education program coordinators in determining program effectiveness with periodical reports and data collection.
  13. Attends school events such as parent/teacher conferences and open house nights to promote the Migrant Education Program and provide services.
  14. Attends assigned training and professional development as determined by MEP and the school.
  15. Promotes, publicizes, and connects students to district MEP opportunities such as college/career readiness, night classes, credit recovery, and other enrichment and/or remedial opportunities.
  16. Supports school, ASD, and MEP programs and services in accordance with school, ASD, and MEP goals, policies, and procedures.
  17. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with families, students, and staff.
  18. Maintains organization and completes projects and tasks in a timely manner.
