Interventionist, Title I

Bargaining Unit: ACE
Work Year: 180 days per year, 12 contract payments
Work Day: 3.5 - 5 hours per day depending on location
Salary: ACE A-M

Job Summary
The Title I Interventionist works closely with the Title I principal and certificated classroom teachers to provide supplemental support to students in Title I schools who have academic performance needs. The position has a retirement association with the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS).
 
Job Requirements
The following are required:

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must have or obtain a minimum of 48 college semester credits from a regionally accredited institute, or a passing score of 459 or greater on the ETS Paraprofessional Assessment exam, within 45 calendar days of hire date.
  3. Experience working with children, youth, or adults in an educational environment.
  4. Knowledge of Macintosh computers and other office technology.

The following are preferred:

  1. Previous public school teaching experience.
  2. Experience or training in working with children in an instructional environment with an understanding of multicultural awareness issues.
  3. Prior experience working in an individualized instruction program.
  4. Evidence of strong English reading, writing, and speaking abilities.
  5. Ability to work successfully with low achieving students on an individual or small group basis.
  6. Ability to cooperate in the design and implementation of individual tutorial plans, as supervised by certificated Anchorage School District teaching personnel.
  7. Ability to collaboratively participate in planning and delivery of services.
  8. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision, prioritize tasks, solve problems, and maintain accurate records.
  9. Ability to effectively present information to staff, students, and administrators.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Provides tutorial sessions under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.
  2. Works collaboratively with the teacher to adjust instructional support according to students’ individual needs and level of academic achievement.
  3. Offers educational opportunities on an individual or small group basis according to the needs and academic achievement of students.
  4. Provides tier II interventions either face-to-face or by supporting students’ computer-based instruction.
  5. Participates in staff meetings and in-service training.
  6. Attends meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
