Voice of the Arctic Iñupiat was formed in 2015 as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit corporation, creating a communication network amongst Arctic Slope communities to establish a unified voice for our region and people. Today, our twenty-four member organizations work together to ensure that our collective voice is heard and respected – locally, regionally and nationally.

JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of Board of Directors, the President will develop, implement, and manage all the affairs of the Voice of the Arctic Iñupiat and other issues that develop to meet the business interests and strategic objectives of the Voice of the Arctic Iñupiat.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

  • Oversees the direct operations of the Corporation’s strategic goals set by the Board of Directors.
  • Provides direction and leadership toward achievement of the mission, strategy and annual goals and objectives for Voice of the Arctic Iñupiat.
  • Oversees day‐to‐day operations and manages subordinate staff for the Corporation and mentor them into long‐term positions.
  • Oversees fundraising efforts of the Voice of the Arctic Iñupiat.
  • Stay up‐to‐date on relevant issues, news, meetings, etc. that affect North Slope communities.
  • Attend and present at all VOICE meetings and regularly report to the Board of Directors on performance, issues/concerns, and important factors influencing the Corporation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Board of Directors.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • The position of President is an appointed position; therefore, no minimum education is required.
  • Business management experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity of the issues that impact the communities of the North Slope.
  • Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.
  • The ability to speak and understand the Inupiaq language is important and preferred.
