Job Description

 

The Financial Controller (FC) is responsible for all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting. The role supports the CFO through all aspects of accounting; audit; compliance; taxation and includes responsibility for the integrity of the group finance ERP system as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.

Location: Anchorage, Alaska

Reports Administratively To: Chief Financial Officer

Direct Reports: Senior Financial Accountant, Trainee Accountant, Accounts Payable

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the financial accounting and payables functions
  2. Oversee the recording, classification and summarizing of all financial transactions and events in accordance with iFRS
  3. Ensure the integrity of the P&L & BS
  4. Manage the monthly close timetable, ensuring completion of all analysis and reconciliations
  5. Support daily cash flow analysis and monitor ongoing funding requirements
  6. Maintain an accurate and up to date fixed asset register
  7. Support business operations through the set-up of project accounting
  8. Manage all intercompany billings and recharges in a timely manner
  9. Comply with taxation and transfer pricing requirements
  10. Review and approve all adjustments made within the group finance ERP system
  11. Develop, maintain and test internal controls, ensuring an effective and compliant accounting system
  12. Main point of contact for the annual audit process
  13. Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis for regulatory agencies; stockholders and auditors
  14. Review controls/processes and identify ways to continually improve
  15. Participate/support in projects and improvement initiatives where relevant

Job Profile:

Required Skills and Knowledge - 

  1. At least 5 years of proven track record success in a similar position for a SME.
  2. At least 10 years recent experience in a fast-paced accounting department.
  3. Prior hands-on experience in driving process improvements and change management.
  4. Able to work under pressure, deliver results and observe deadlines.
  5. Demonstrated relationship building skills across large/diverse people business.
  6. Exposure to different styles and personalities of business unit leaders.
  7. Good interpersonal skills and driver of change.
  8. Strong numerical and analytical skills, detailed orientated problem solver.
  9. Advanced Excel & PowerPoint skills, knowledge of GP/SUN/Cognos would be an added advantage.

Required Qualifications -

  1. Strong Finance/Accounting degree or CPA professional qualification.
  2. Recent experience managing a team. 

Required Languages - 

  • Excellent written and verbal English.
