Summary

We are looking for an energetic and well-organized individual to help coordinate community education, outreach, and field research for our Protecting Future Generations project, a research and advocacy project with the purpose of assessing and preventing exposures to endocrine-disrupting chemicals on Sivuqaq (St. Lawrence Island).

 

Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have three or more years of relevant experience, preferably with a non-profit organization.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.  
  • Respectful relationship building skills.
  • Competency in written and oral communications.
  • Public speaking.
  • Experience in coordinating logistics for work in rural Alaska communities.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office proficient), graphic design, data base management, video tele-conferencing systems; and use of office equipment. 
  • Driver’s license and personal insurance.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as being able to work collaboratively in a group setting.
  • Solution-oriented ability to analyze issues and problems and develop solutions.
  • Flexible—willing to adjust work hours and activities to meet program demands.
  • Willingness to travel to remote locations by small plane.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience conducting interviews or surveys.
  • Bilingual—particularly Yupik language.
  • Driver’s license.  
  • 2- or 4-year degree and/or proven relevant experience

Salary range is $20-22/hour DOE. The position is based in Anchorage.
