    Job Title: Dairy Clerk Reports to: Grocery Manager Salaried or Hourly: Hourly Job Code: Department: Grocery Date: March 2015

     

    Position Purpose: Exemplifies strong customer service in every aspect of the job. Maintains, orders and replenishes stock in a safe and efficient manner to meet customer purchasing needs.

     

    Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

     

    · Receives, stores, stocks and merchandises all dairy products.

    · Assists the Grocery Department management team in the operation of the dairy department, including planning, organizing regular and seasonal merchandise and special sales needs.

    · May stage cases of product from the back room cooler to the sales floor in preparation for stocking. Maintains the quality condition of all products; stocks, rotates, blocks and faces product in an efficient and proper manner; and discards outdated product in compliance with code date procedures. Maintains orderly and in-stock conditions in all dairy department areas. Controls shrink, damage and spoilage of products. Performs reclamation duties. Cleans shelves and cases.

    · Manages backroom inventory, conditions and standards. Assists in the reclamation process.

    · Orders dairy products. Creates and builds promotional displays and end caps, operating related equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks and the bailer. Maintains a safe, secure and sanitary work environment.

    · Prepares and displays appropriate product signage.

    · Ensures cost, quality and inventory control through verifying orders against invoices, auditing contents of product cases and completing necessary forms and reports accurately.

    · May train, teach and coach backup associates regarding stocking and conditioning standards.

    · Complies with all federal, state, local and Company health code standards.

    · Implements Division operating and merchandising policies and practices.

    · Performs all duties consistent with safety standards.

    · May perform other grocery department duties as directed by management.

    · Reports all equipment problems to the Grocery Manager. Executes all emergency procedures consistent with Company policy.

    · Handles positive customer and vendor relations. Promotes Albertson’s philosophy of personalized service. Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques.

    · Responsible for performing all job duties with honesty and integrity and in compliance with Company policies and procedures.

     

    Skills and Physical Requirements:

     

    · Must be friendly, courteous, tactful and to maintain composure in dealing with customers, vendors and co-workers. Must possess good oral and written communication skills.

    · Must frequently reach, lift, stack and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 50 lbs., within the range of floor level to overhead. Must push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.

    · Stands and walks for long periods of time. Bends, stoops, and reaches frequently and occasionally climbs ladders. Pushes and pulls fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.

    · Mental alertness is required to ensure safe, accurate completion of work activities and to perform repetitious work accurately.

    · Requires knowledge of basic math, inventory control, pricing, merchandising, product storage and shipping and receiving procedures.

    · Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination required.

    · Knowledge of and ability to implement emergency procedures in the event of equipment and computer software malfunctions.

    · Utilizes cleaning supplies and safety cutter.

    · May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. Scheduled hours will vary. Good attendance is required.

    · Must comply with appropriate grooming and dress code standards.

    Work Environment:

     

    · Working conditions consist of a temperature controlled store environment. May occasionally be exposed to temperatures of approximately 28° Fahrenheit, and 35° Fahrenheit, while handling products in coolers and display cases. Working conditions consist of a temperature controlled store environment. Occasional exposure to outdoor environment with varying temperatures.
