Primary Position Duties:

  • Role and Responsibilities
    ·         This role is responsible for leading the Alaska Zoo Adventure camp for ages nine (9) to twelve (12). Camp size is approximately fifteen (15) children.
    ·         Ensures campers learn in safe, fun and stimulating environment.
    ·         Supervises campers and ensures their safety, development, growth and general well-being.
    ·         Maintains a schedule for camp participants.
    ·         Ensures the cleanliness and organization of the classroom.
    ·         Understands all emergency procedures associated with camp program.
    ·         Mediates any camper disputes.
    ·         Follows Alaska Zoo Policies and Procedures.
    ·         Other duties as assigned. 
     

Education or Skills:

  • Qualifications and Education Requirements
    • Bachelors’ Degree in Natural Sciences or Education -OR- Pursuing a similar type of degree -OR- Equivalent job experience.
    • Exceptional customer service skills.
    • Must be a team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Previous experience with mentoring or supervising children required.  
    Preferred Skills
    • Previous experience in a leadership with supervisory experience preferred.
    • Evidence of sound leadership skills.
    • First aid certification required. 

Position Requirements:

  • Physical Requirements
    • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
    • Ability to work in Alaska weather extremes.
    • While performing duties of this job, you will be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.
