Job Title: Tribal Services Assistant
POSITION SUMMARY: The Tribal Services Assistant is under the general supervision of the Office Administrator. The Tribal Services Assistant is responsible for helping the Project Coordinator to complete Office of Victims of Crime grant objectives to develop and establish a program to provide services to crime victims that are culturally-appropriate and include traditional knowledge and a trauma- informed approach.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Ability to work within a team, as well as the ability to work independently. 2. Responsibility for displaying sensitivity to the needs of the village, its culture, traditions, behavior patterns and background. 3. Works closely with the project coordinator, planning team and consultants to achieve the goals of the grant. 4. Assist with implementation of trainings and presentations. 5. Assists in all office administration tasks including filing. 6. Answers phones, questions, and routes appropriately. 7. Ability to create documents and spreadsheets using Microsoft Office.
QUALIFICATIONS • Experience and demonstrated knowledge of victim’s services and programs. • Knowledge and understanding of the community including cultural values and beliefs, history, and family systems. • Professional, ethical, forward thinking, and creative individual. • Ability to communicate effectively, and write reports. • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate verbally in a professional manner. • Knowledgeable of the Federal government/Indian relationship. • High School diploma. • 2 years office/clerical experience preferred. • All applicants are subject to the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol-Free Work Place Policy including pre-employment and random testing. • Alaska Native/American Indian Preference (Public Law 93-638).
