The Student Conservation Association (SCA), a national force of youth conservation volunteers, has an exciting opportunity in our Recruiting Department. America's #1 youth conservation organization seeks a HR Coordinator, Recruiting to work in Anchorage, AK.

 

The SCA recruits for thousands of program participants per year, as well as regular company staff. The recruiter is responsible for full-life cycle recruiting: recruiting, screening and recommending placement of SCA program participant candidates (mostly seasonal), and staff candidates, by using creative and proactive sourcing methods (internal and external). The recruiter proactively works with hiring managers to anticipate and plan for a high volume of perennial openings. This position is responsible for attracting top-tier candidates and building and maintaining a comprehensive candidate pipeline that addresses the needs of clients. It works with a team of recruiters all assisting with large volume and quick-to-fill openings. It is responsible for screening and creating pools of skilled applicants representing diverse demographics, and completing full cycle recruiting through offer and onboarding compliance. This position ensures quality and consistency in member recruiting and leader hiring while implementing Innovation Engineering (IE) guiding principles.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with recruiters and hiring managers to understand the staffing needs of clients;
  • Posts approved requisitions to various job boards and leverages online recruiting resources and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to identify and attract candidates to build a comprehensive candidate pipeline;
  • Takes selected candidates through the offer and onboarding process, in conjunction with compliance HR staff;
  • Assists with the development of and/or develops roles specific to comprehensive sourcing strategies to meet program requirements; develops job-related marketing content including posts, flyers;
  • Assists with the creation of and/or creates Boolean Search Strings and recommends and makes enhancements based on market response, needs and requirements;
  • Conducts general, straight forward to moderately complex data mining, targeted searches, and outreach to various resources to source potential candidates, including cold-calling; 
  • Compiles, formats and prepares sourcing metrics and assists with creating information presentations for internal staff;
  • Enters and tracks candidate data in various electronic systems and runs standard reports as required;
  • Identifies candidates and shares information with appropriate recruiters to initiate the vetting process;
  • Assists with the evaluation current initiatives, strategies, pipelines, tools, technologies, job boards, etc.and identifies, recommends and develops best practices in sourcing;
  • Conducts market and competitor evaluations and reports results;
  • Fields general, straight forward to moderately complex inquiries from candidates and hiring managers; escalates inquiries to senior team members and/or management as necessary;
  • Trains and provides guidance on industry best practices to less experienced team members;
  • Screens resumes, interviews candidates (by phone or in person), administers appropriate assessments and reference/background checking, and makes recommendations for hire (or not hire);
  • Place, offer and enroll program participants where necessary;
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned;
  • Cross-trains on other HR team functions not necessarily related to recruiting to fill in when instructed, which could be often.

Qualifications

  • Experience in talent sourcing, recruiting or related experience
  • Experience with process management
  • Experience in building relationships with internal and external constituents
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, excellent customer service and telephone communication skills
  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Strong user knowledge of Mircrosoft Office software, website management required; experience with applicant tracking database and Google docs preferred

 

Education and Experience

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree, with related talent sourcing or recruiting experience
  • Proven ability to multi-task and troubleshoot in a fast paced environment
  • Attention to detail and follow through on administrative tasks

 

Travel Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a Motor Vehicle Record that meets SCA standards 
  • Willingness to travel 25%

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk to hear. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
