Job Overview

The Lead Journeyman Electrician supervises, evaluates, plans and participates in day-to-day operations, maintenance, repair and construction of the base owned electrical utility system and equipment.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Serves as the primary supervisor, technician, and technical resource for the electrical distribution systems inside building/facilities, and base owned electrical utility system.
  • Ensures that all required maintenance and repair efforts receive identification, initiate documentation, and provide repairs/modifications to existing systems.
  • Accomplishes all necessary maintenance or repairs (as either operations maintenance, repairs, service, or work requests) in an appropriate and timely fashion.
  • Provides support of construction projects to help facilitate the base's needs, such as providing additional outlets, running new homeruns, replacing/modernizing load banks/electrical panels, replacing VFDs, process controls, etc.
  • Performs all maintenance and repairs as necessary to prevent undue wear and tear, prolong the useful life of equipment and systems, and promote the most efficient and economical performance.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must hold current State of Alaska Electrician Journeyman certification of fitness per Alaska State Statute 8 AAC 90.160.
  • Ten (10) years documented experience as an electrician where working with electrical distribution and power systems.
  • Two (2) years working with utility systems such as building feed wire systems, transformers, electrical connection boxes/meters.
  • Must have thorough knowledge and understanding with VFDs, SCADA, process controls, Industrial equipment including generators, boilers, treatment plant processes, etc.
  • Three (3) years experience supervising other workers who monitor, operate, maintain, and repair electrical systems as well as associated equipment.
  • Familiarity with and knowledge of electrical codes and best practices with regard to electrical distribution and power systems.
  • Knowledge of the safety hazards and necessary safety precautions connected with electrical systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security clearance if required.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
