Summary Job Goal: The Tribal Compliance Support Specialist is responsible for conducting Tribal risk assessments and developing work plans for Tribal finances of ATG Compacted Tribes.

Performance Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Conducts financial portion of risk assessment in conjunction with the Tribal Operations Specialists.
  • Assists in development of work plans in conjunction with Tribal Operations Specialists.
  • Assists Tribes with development of policies and procedures regarding finances.
  • Works closely with Grants Compliance Accountant on compliance issues and acts as liaison between Tribal Services and Grants and Compliance.
  • Provides technical assistance to ATG Compacted Tribes on financial issues.
  • Creates internal requests for ATG reimbursement checks for Tribes.
  • Reviews budgets, budget revisions and provides assistance with budgeting process.
  • Conducts and assists with Financial Management training.
  • Maintains confidentiality of the program.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: 

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Planning, Rural Development, Business Administration, or two (2) years of work experience in a closely related field is required. Knowledge of QuickBooks financial software required. Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and grant program administration is preferred. Able and willing to travel to AVCP member villages. Familiarity with Yup’ik lifestyle, traditional, political, social and cultural structures of the villages is preferred. Must have strong written and oral communication skills, and establish and maintain effective programmatic working relationships. Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as work effectively as a team.
