Summary Job Goal: Under the supervision of the Tribal Services Manager, Sr. Tribal Operations Specialist is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Aid to Tribal Government (ATG) Program. The Sr. Tribal Operations Specialist assists in directing the internal program operations of the ATG Program and ensures the quality of the program. Such operations include, but are not limited to, case management, job development and overseeing relevant prevention programs. The Sr Tribal Operations Specialist will establish systems and support development of policies and procedures; performs duties essential to the training and technical needs of the AVCP member villages.

This position requires a thorough understanding of the culture and the needs of the Tribes of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region.
Strong written, oral, organizational, and analytical skills are required.
Bilingual Yup’ik/English is strongly preferred.
Must be able to travel to villages frequently.
Must have strong written and oral communication skills and establish and maintain effective programmatic working relationships.
Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as work effectively as a team.
This position is subject to Native Preference per P.L. 93-638.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Planning, Rural Development, Business Administration, or two (4) years of work experience in tribal government and/or Native organization experience is required. Knowledge of QuickBooks financial software, desktop publishing software-Microsoft publisher, electronic mail software- Microsoft Outlook, Copier and Printer-document publication binding, Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, Printer, Scanner, Facsimile machine, Rite Track & Concur required.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and grant program administration is preferred.
Familiarity with Yup’ik lifestyle, traditional, political, social, and cultural structures of the villages is preferred.

Driver’s License
If the use of a company vehicle is required, the employee must have an active Alaska Driver’s license with a driving record that will allow the employee to be insured by the AVCP Vehicle Insurance Policy for use of company vehicles.
