Job Title: Staff Accountant
Reports To: Controller
Status: Exempt
Overall Responsibility
Staff Accountant assists with daily accounting functions and other related projects as assigned below. Also performs operations support as required including but not limited to the following outline of duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accounting Activities:
- Processing of Accounts payable
- Process Account Receivables
- Prepare accounting reports as needed for financial, budget & various analysis
- Reconcile, research monthly financial work papers
- Prepare & create financial reports as requested or needed, assist with assembling financial packets
- Record deposited cash receipts, transfers, etc.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and maintain cash balances daily
- Reconcile debt payments to monthly lending statements monthly
- Process payroll & set up employee information in accounting systems from authorized information
- Responsible for all aspects of payroll & knowledgeable of all required payroll laws & thresholds annually
- Reconcile all payroll liability accounts monthly
- Responsible for preparing, reconciling, & reporting all quarterly, annual payroll & accounts payable tax related reports for timely filing
- Mail and file tax returns as requested
- Maintain task tracking system to ensure deadlines for projects/assignments are completed
- Run reports as requested by internal & external customers
- Maintain organized filing system for all accounts payable and payroll records
- Prepare accounting reports as needed for budget tracking & research
- Provide assistance with all audit processes as needed
- Finalizes processes mentioned above after review & approval by Controller
- Other accounting duties as assigned
Administrative and Office Support Activities:
- Backup/relief for Receptionist
- Backup/relief for Construction Accountant payroll & accounts payable processing
- Assist with preparation of Annual and Informational Shareholder Meetings
- Other administrative and office support duties as assigned
Qualifications
- BA/BS (or candidate) in Accounting or Business; or four years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be able to successfully pass a background verification process
- Experience with Sage Intacct, Sage 100 Contractor, Great Plains, ADP Payroll, Stampli and Excel preferred
