Receptionist

Alaska Native Heritage Center


JOB STATEMENT/PURPOSE:

The Receptionist is responsible for representing Alaska Native Heritage Center (ANHC) as a living contact between ANHC and the public. The Receptionist will act as the first point of contact for the general public and ANHC, and will have the opportunity to assist with communications work and other special projects as interests allow .

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Welcome and direct all incoming telephone calls, respond to general inquiries via email, check and respond to voicemails, answer general questions public may have
  • Provide basic information regarding ANHC, including a general description of funding interests and programs,
  • Keep track of requests received via phone and email,
  • Professionally handle complaints,
  • Assist with archiving and digitizing old files,
  • Receive and sort mail deliveries,
  • Assist with special projects as assigned,
  • Fill in at the Gift Shop and other duties at ANHC when needed

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED required,
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • The ability to write and record information neatly and accurately
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of basic secretarial and typing skills

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing duties of this job, would occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in Alaska weather extremes.
  • Job will generally be performed in an office environment
