Job Title: Physical Therapist

Job Summary: Job incumbent provides physical therapy consultation to TCC Health Services providers & physical therapy services to TCC beneficiaries from the TCC region. Job incumbent provides comprehensive outpatient physical therapy services to TCC beneficiaries and provides consultation to TCC Health Services providers in Fairbanks and in the TCC villages in person and through tele physical therapy services.

Adhere to the TCC  Ch'eghwtsen' model of service and guiding principle which requires providing timely and effective service along with the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion and empathy.

Representative Duties: Under the direct supervision of Program Manager job incumbent:

1. Provide PT services in accordance with all applicable Federal, State laws, regulations and accreditation guidelines.

2. Evaluate patients referred to Physical Therapy.

3. Utilizes clinical process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation to assess the patient's condition and needs; set outcomes, implement appropriate actions and evaluate the patient's process to ensure continuity of care.

4. Coordinate patient care with primary care providers, specialty care providers and fitness center staff where applicable.

5. Portray cultural awareness in providing patient instructions and determining action plans.

6. Maintains compliance with all applicable infection control and safety standards.

7. Maintains and ensures compliance with documentation requirement for patient safety, quality of care and billing purposes.

8. Provide care at village clinics and/or sub-regional clinics through field trips. On occasion these may be completed without program support staff.

Other Responsibilities:

1. Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Doctorate of PT preferred; Masters of PT or Bachelors of PT with proven continued competencies.

2. Licensed as physical therapist in Alaska.3. Minimum of 3 years' experience preferred as a physical therapist; competent in all aspects of outpatient PT, including manipulation of extremities and joints, trigger point treatment (i.e. dry needling). New graduates considered.

4. Experience in video-based practice in patient care, preferred.

5. Prior experience in a health care setting providing care for Alaska Natives preferred.

6. Must maintain strict confidentiality.

7. Must have a valid driver's license.

8. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

1. Electronic Health Record experienced preferred.

2. Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills required.

3. Strong customer service and quality improvement skills required.

4. Knowledge of Native Alaskan culture and providing health care in a culturally sensitive manner preferred.

Supervision: This position does not supervise staff, but may be asked to act in supervisory role when department director is unavailable.

Physical demands: Position requires standing, bending, lifting, stretching, twisting, reaching, pulling, and pushing when providing physical therapy services. Work is conducted in a clinical environment, in which exposure to contagious disease and to biohazard materials may occur. May deal with highly emotionally or disturbed patients. Must be able to work effectively in a busy, sometimes stressful environment. Some village travel will be required. May be exposed to adverse weather conditions and must be able to travel by small aircraft and vehicle.

Summation: Position requires innovation, ability to envision how to change processes and procedures to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
