Accountabilities and Specific Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Applicants must meet or exceed these minimum job requirements to apply for this position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • One year of related experience in pipeline and/or facility piping corrosion prevention, detection, and mitigation
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, assess and develop mitigation actions for the risks of corrosion related threats
  • Demonstrated proficiency in in-line inspection, corrosion monitoring, or corrosion inhibition and data analysis and the application of relevant federal and Alaska state regulations and industry standards and recommended practices
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills; able to conduct technical meetings with other engineers and technicians; ability to write professional reports; ability to communicate technical risk evaluations and recommendations to key stakeholders
  • A valid State of Alaska Driver’s License is required to support frequent visits to field locations

Preferences:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering
  • Five (5) years of related work experience in pipelines integrity management that includes experience in a wide variety of corrosion management areas like in-line inspection, corrosion inhibitor injection, corrosion coupons and related data interpretation
  • Advanced knowledge of corrosion monitoring, control and management with applicable NACE Certification, or the ability to immediately acquire such certification
  • Nexus Integrity Centre DB experience and TAPs Corrosion Monitoring Locations (CML’s) familiarity
  • Advanced knowledge of in-line inspection and data analysis
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal and Alaska state regulations and industry recommended practices and standard related to corrosion and integrity management
  • Technical problem solving, data management, trend analysis and troubleshooting skills without need of direct supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills
  • Proven leadership skills in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently and perform successfully in a team environment
  • The ability to coordinate and interact successfully with engineering, construction, and maintenance contractors

SALARY BAND:  J/K/L/M/N

Schedule:  This is a regular exempt level position that works an urban 40-hour a week or compressed work week 9/80 schedule.  Relocation benefits may apply.

Position Description: Under general direction of the Integrity Management Manager - the Integrity Management Engineer will be accountable for providing technical leadership and support for the In-line Inspection and Corrosion Control Program (includes Internal Corrosion); this includes:

  • Shared accountability as a member of the Integrity Management team for the identification of Corrosion Control Program scope that meets Alyeska Integrity Management guidelines for IM risk management and assures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards / recommended practices
  • Develop annual Integrity Management and Corrosion Control Program work scope based on the risk-based evaluation and assessment of corrosion monitoring and control, surveillance, and inspection data
  • Plan and oversee the annual monitoring, collection, risk evaluation and risk assessment of corrosion data
  • Develop list of engineering deliverables required to meet Corrosion Control Program scopes and review contractors' proposal to meet deliverables
  • Develop and monitor schedule and manage budget for the annual Corrosion Control Program
  • Assist with monitoring contractor's work progress; review contractor's work output and provide direction for corrective action as necessary
  • Assure accuracy of engineering data obtained during monitoring and surveillance activities and store it appropriately
  • Assist with maintenance of Alyeska Integrity documentation (master specifications, manuals, monitoring criteria and procedures) for Corrosion Control monitoring
  • Interpret applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards. Draft government letters regarding area of expertise and provide subject matter expertise to TAPS organization
  • Maintain/update the preventative and mitigative action data base and stewardship of Pipeline Integrity Management and Corrosion Control Programs
  • Maintain/update IM performance metrics (KPIs) to monitor and communicate program performance and to support annual reporting requirements

PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREEN TESTING

  • Alyeska Pipeline Service Company (APSC) requires pre-employment drug testing utilizing hair test collections for all positions. The preferred collection site is from the head (approximately 1/2 inch of hair length necessary).   Head hair testing provides an approximate 90-day window of detection that checks for drug use.  In addition, for Department of Transportation covered positions, APSC will also utilize urinalysis testing. Any drug test makes you ineligible for APSC employment
  • It is important to note that APSC does not seek or accept any genetic information as part of the hair testing procedure or any other process that could directly or inadvertently provide genetic information (family medical history)
