Job Title: Purchased/Referred Care Clerk

Job Summary: Job incumbent will provide Clerical and Technical support to the Purchased/Referred Care staff.

Essential Functions: This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents.

Representative Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Purchased/Referred Care Director, job incumbent:

1. Processes incoming and outgoing mail.

2. Contacts insurance companies to verify coverage eligibility.

3. Files paid purchase orders, check copies and certified returned receipts.

4. Receives and directs incoming calls from contracted providers' and clients' requests for funding and payments.

5. Updates clients' demographic and other data in computer and hard files.

6. Assists clients with Native verification forms and registration updates.

7. Assists with the Process request for purchase orders and issues purchase orders within PRC guidelines.

8. Assists with creating and auditing pre-check request for final check request run.

9. Assist with generating and sending Catastrophic Health Emergency Fund reports to the IHS when assigned.

10. Serves as back-up for other Purchased/Referred functions.

Other Responsibilities:

11. Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

12. High school diploma or GED equivalent.

13. One year work experience in a service oriented position with direct client contact.

14. One year of acceptable experience, working in a health care business office, using medical terminology.

15. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

16. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

17. Ability to operate standard contemporary office equipment with proficiency and accuracy.

18. Understands and protects the confidential information as specified in the Privacy Act and in TCC Personnel Policy.

19. Proficiency with mathematics.

Supervision: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical demands: Work is primarily sedentary at a computer terminal with some walking to other areas of the center. Job requires extended hours of sitting and knowledge of standard office and computer equipment. There is some bending and stooping. Occasionally lifts boxes, weighing up to forty pounds. Required to work periodically under stress and with demanding clients.

Summation: Make sure all documents are in order for staff to do payments to vendors in a prompt and orderly manner. This job may at times have high contact with patients who have inquiries, which make communication and interpersonal skills important. Incumbent may be required to work independently. Confidentiality required.
