Facilities Services - Maintenance and Operations Division is seeking a dependable, hardworking individual to join our Grounds team. This position is responsible for maintaining the beauty, safety, and accessibility of the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus through year-round landscaping, grounds maintenance, and snow removal operations. Duties include maintaining landscaped areas, caring for trees, shrubs, and flower beds, operating a variety of grounds maintenance and snow removal equipment, performing semi-skilled maintenance and construction support, assisting with the training of temporary employees, maintaining work records, and following established safety procedures. This position may require working night shifts and responding to changing weather conditions and emergency snow removal operations

To thrive in this role, you will have experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, construction, or a related trade, along with the ability to safely operate equipment commonly used in the field, including trucks, tractors, loaders, riding mowers, push mowers, and snow removal equipment. Successful candidates will possess knowledge of commercial landscape maintenance practices, including ornamental tree and shrub care, annual and perennial flower maintenance, basic horticultural principles, and snow removal. You should be able to work independently and as part of a team, follow written and verbal instructions, prioritize and complete assignments with a high level of quality, and work outdoors in Alaska's challenging weather conditions. A valid Alaska driver's license is required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and recordkeeping skills, along with the ability to read and interpret technical manuals, procedures, and work orders, are essential for success in this position.

Minimum Qualifications:

May possess journeyman level certification. Requires apprentice level or other equivalent certification appropriate to the specific trade; with a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid Alaska driver's license is required.
