The UAF Environmental Community Partnership provides environmental services to USAG Alaska on Fort Wainwright in accordance with the Intergovernmental Support Agreement (IGSA). This position is tasked with ensuring compliance with the CAA,

RCRA, and Solid Waste regulations, and to ensure all required activities and sources are properly permitted and in compliance with applicable regulations. The Environmental Compliance Specialist will be the subject matter expert for the team and provide knowledge in these areas. This person will perform the tasks associated with Title V and Minor air permit reporting as well as the performance of or subcontract management of RCRA or Solid Waste required tasks.

 

The correct person for this position will have good digital organization skills to maintain data and recordkeeping requirements and the ability to read and understand complicated regulations. Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks and plan ahead based on need and due dates.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Master's degree in related field and five years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

Relevant fields may include environmental science, geology, natural resource management, or other related science, or environmental field.

 

Preferred Experience:

At least one year full-time professional experience in environmental compliance specific to air quality management.

Able to obtain EPA Method 9 Certification

Ability to access military installations in Alaska.

Possession of a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one.

Experience in conducting scientific field work is preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Scientific calculations.

Ability to use Google suite of tools and Microsoft software.

Ability to maintain working relationships with University of Alaska Fairbanks and Army personnel.

 

Position Details:

 

This position is located on Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks Alaska.
