This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced utility professional to guide compliance strategy, manage audits and regulatory filings, identify and address control gaps, and work across operations, engineering, legal, IT, cybersecurity, and other teams to ensure requirements are understood and embedded into daily operations. With a competitive starting salary of $126,585 annually, DOE, Grade 14, this position offers the opportunity to support long-term reliability, risk management, and regulatory readiness across the organization.

GVEA is an electric cooperative that owns and maintains 3,491 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 35 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, Clear Space Force Station, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, which extends from Homer to Fairbanks. As the Compliance Manager at Golden Valley Electric Association, you will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of GVEA's regulatory compliance program. You will help ensure the organization meets applicable requirements from the Railbelt Reliability Council, Regulatory Commission of Alaska, and other reliability and regulatory agencies.
You will oversee compliance monitoring, audits, filings, document retention, risk assessments, and corrective actions. In this role, you will work closely with subject matter experts across operations, engineering, legal, information technology, cybersecurity, and other departments to maintain audit-ready records and ensure compliance requirements are understood and incorporated into daily work.
You will also monitor changing regulations, identify potential compliance gaps, support regulatory filings, manage compliance-related budgets and consultants, and provide guidance and updates to management and the Board. This role offers the opportunity to strengthen GVEA's regulatory readiness, reduce organizational risk, and support reliable electric service across Interior Alaska.
To succeed in this role, candidates should have a strong background in electric utility operations, regulatory compliance, and program leadership. A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy Management, Power Systems, Business, or a related field is preferred, although equivalent experience may be considered.
The ideal candidate will be analytical, detail-oriented, and able to interpret complex regulations and translate them into clear, practical procedures. Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills are essential.
