The Prince William Sound Regional Citizens’ Advisory Council (PWSRCAC) is seeking a skilled and motivated professional to serve as our Scientific and Environmental Monitoring Program Manager!
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional with expertise in scientific research coordination, environmental monitoring, and technical project management. This position leads the Council’s work related to scientific research and environmental monitoring associated with oil transportation and marine operations in Prince William Sound. The role supports the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) comprised of volunteers, and works closely with staff, scientists, industry representatives, regulators, and other stakeholders.
The Scientific and Environmental Monitoring Program Manager’s responsibilities include:
Qualifications - Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental science, engineering, marine science, or a related field, along with at least three years of relevant professional experience in scientific research, environmental monitoring, oil spill response, or a related field. Strong written and verbal communication skills, project management experience, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential.
This is a full-time, on site, exempt position with a starting annual base salary of $98,642 (with room for negotiation depending on experience). An additional 10% cost of living adjustment will be provided for the Valdez location. After 60 days, an additional 25% of base salary is added for optional benefits.
Location - This position is based in Alaska. The Council’s preferred office location for this position is in Valdez; however, Anchorage may be considered depending on the selected candidate.

About the Council - PWSRCAC was formed in the aftermath of the Exxon Valdez oil spill with the mission of promoting the environmentally safe operation of the Valdez Marine Terminal and the associated tankers.
