Job Summary: Job incumbent may initially have limited knowledge and skills for working with clients, but will begin to develop a broad information and practice base. Incumbent will require regular professional supervision to support their work.

Adhere to the TCC Ch'eghwtsen' model of service and guiding principle which requires providing timely and effective service along with the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion and empathy.

Representative Duties: Under the direct supervision of the on-site Village Tribal Administrator and Behavioral Health Aide Program Manager the job incumbent will:

1. Provide crisis and informal supportive counseling services to children and adults with assistance from other members of the treatment team.

2. Provide screening, referral and case management services to clients with behavioral health issues and assists clients to enter treatment or access services with assistance from other members of the treatment team.

3. Keep the client and others as appropriate informed of treatment progress.

4. Coordinate and actively participate in community education and prevention activities, such as wellness teams and presentations on behavioral health issues to community members.

5. Develop and complete annual training plan that may include participation in school, professional seminars and workshops; will be required to obtain a BHA I certification within 2 years of hire.

6. Will be required to work on-call as needed.

7. Meet productivity standards as set by the Behavioral Health Director.

8. Maintain client charts in a timely and professional manner; ensures compliance with Medicaid and other applicable regulations to document diagnosis, assessment, intervention, referral, consultation and related functions.

9. May be required to work in alternate locations (another village, OMFRC, Paul Williams House, etc.)

10. Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to the Behavioral Health Aide code of ethics in accordance to field standards, department policies and applicable laws.

11. Must be an effective communicator written and verbal.

Other Responsibilities:

12. Provide regular reports and statistics as required.

13. Summarize and document treatment progress and results in accordance with policy and procedure and to the level of Medicaid billing requirements.

14. Maintain strict confidentiality and professional ethics.

15. Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.

2. Training or experience in human development, social services, counseling or related field preferred.

3. Must be willing to obtain BHA I certification within 2 years of hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

4. Knowledge and ability to adhere to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability act (HIPAA) and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality regulations.

5. Good verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

6. Knowledge of sub-regional lifestyles and traditions preferred.

7. Ability to cultivate respectful and collaborative working relationships with individuals in the community.

8. Ability to pass background check.

9. Must be able to serve as a role model for health, wellness, and sobriety within the community.

Supervision: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands: Frequent village travel required. May be exposed to conditions that include but are not limited to travel by automobile and small aircraft, lack of running water, poor heat, sleeping on floors and adverse weather conditions. Job incumbent must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds of equipment and supplies. Must be able to work efficiently and effectively in a busy and sometimes stressful environment.SummationSummation: This job requires a great deal of flexibility, initiative and creativity. Requires the desire for educational growth and the ability to attend training for weeks at a time outside of the community.
