This position offers competitive pay ranging from $51.54 (Tech 1) to $60.63 (Tech 2) per IBEW Agreement.

GVEA is an electric cooperative that maintains 3,292 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 40 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, which extends from Homer to Fairbanks. Your role as a Lab Technician

As a Lab Technician at Golden Valley Electric Association, you will play a critical role in operating and maintaining plant water and wastewater treatment systems while supporting analytical testing needs. You will be actively involved in managing boiler water chemistry, operating groundwater wells, and overseeing treatment equipment, including reverse osmosis systems, demineralizers, filters, clarifiers, and chemical feed systems.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include monitoring and adjusting treatment processes, maintaining pumps, valves, and piping systems, performing minor repairs, and supporting preventative and corrective maintenance activities. You will also conduct routine sampling and analysis (pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, etc.) to ensure system performance and compliance.

This role requires regular interaction with plant systems and equipment, including chemical handling, equipment installation, troubleshooting, and process optimization. You will work closely with operations teams to resolve issues, improve system performance, and ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards.

This is not a bench-lab role; success in this position requires mechanical aptitude, hands-on system operation, and comfort working in an industrial plant environment.

In addition, a minimum of three years' experience as a Laboratory Technician in an industrial facility is required to succeed in this role.
