The Position: Executive Director

Singletrack Advocates seeks an energetic and flexible leader with a passion for mountain biking and singletrack trails to serve as its first executive director. The ideal candidate will have strong community relationship-building skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work proactively and independently. STA’s new executive director will lead the organization into its next stage of development by building strong internal systems, establishing seasonal maintenance crews, and driving diversified fundraising strategies to strengthen STA’s long-term financial sustainability. 

The Organization

Singletrack Advocates (STA) is a group of mountain bikers and recreationalists working with the community to preserve, maintain and create singletrack trails in Anchorage, Alaska. Since 2004, they have built over 40 miles of singletrack at Kincaid Park, Hillside Park, and Chugach State Park.

Municipal funding, community donations, state grants, and other earned revenue support STA’s annual operating budget of $230,000. A dedicated board of 11 directors serve to support trail operations, and more than 500 members participate through trail maintenance events, group rides, and yearly donations to STA’s efforts. 

Application Process

STA is dedicated to finding the right person to lead our organization. The position has flexible work hours, with an expectation of 25 to 40 hours per week. Please note: Singletrack Advocates does not have office space and this position will be work-from-home in the Anchorage area.

The salary range is $58,300 to $70,000 annually, commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Singletrack Advocates does not provide employer‑sponsored retirement contributions, medical, dental, or vision insurance. It does, however, offer a paid time off (PTO) program that includes paid holidays and monthly PTO accrual in accordance with organizational policy.

As the executive director meets STA’s strategic priorities and grows the organization, it is expected that compensation will grow commensurate with meeting goals and increasing responsibilities.
