Compensation: 280 - 300 per day depending on experience

Kaktovik Lodge is seeking a professional, experienced Chef to join our team for the upcoming season. We are an 8-room lodge with a guest capacity of up to 16 people and regular service to local residents. This is a unique opportunity for an adaptable and motivated culinary professional looking to work in a remote Arctic environment.
Position Overview
The Chef will be responsible for planning, preparing, and executing breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day for lodge guests, workers, and local clientele. You will work closely with one kitchen helper who assists with prep and cleaning duties.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare high-quality meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
• Maintain consistent food standards and portion control
• Create or follow menus according to lodge needs and guest volume
• Manage kitchen inventory, including weekly supply requests
• Ensure proper food storage, safety, and sanitation practices
• Supervise and coordinate tasks with the kitchen helper
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
• Adapt menus based on available ingredients and supply shipments
• Provide excellent service in a small community setting
Requirements
• Minimum 5 years of professional restaurant experience
• Strong cooking and menu-planning skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote location
• Strong time management and organization
• Flexibility to adapt to supply limitations and changing guest counts
• Positive attitude and professional demeanor
• Must be able to reside on-site for the duration of the contract
• Ability to work long days with one scheduled day off per week
Contract Terms
• Seasonal position: February – September 2025
• Paid monthly
• Housing and meals included during the contract period
• 30-day trial period applies at the start of employment
