General Functions:
The Department Outreach & Project Coordinator engages in strategic outreach activities throughout the Anchorage School District and Municipality of Anchorage to recruit participants for Denelchin Lab programs. This position supports the Operations Manager in executing department-specific projects and serves as a key liaison for community engagement initiatives. Working in partnership with our people, this role develops opportunities that fulfill our endless potential by promoting program accessibility and connecting Alaska Native and American Indian youth with educational resources. The position requires excellent communication skills, cultural competency, and the ability to manage multiple outreach initiatives simultaneously.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Denelchin Lab programs to provide accurate information and address participant and community inquiries effectively.
- Oversee recruitment activities across all Denelchin Lab programs through strategic outreach initiatives and community engagement.
- Collaborate closely with the Department Programs Coordinator to ensure successful participant enrollment in Denelchin Lab programs.
- Develop and coordinate informational publications, marketing materials, e-newsletters, and other communication resources to promote program awareness.
- Create and execute strategic plans for outreach initiatives in coordination with department leadership to maximize community impact.
- Attend community outreach events including CITC recruitment fairs, street fairs, volunteer fairs, and other relevant community gatherings.
- Participate in monthly Johnson O'Malley committee meetings and prepare comprehensive meeting documentation for program compliance.
- Submit and maintain required reports and documentation to ensure compliance with organizational goals and funding requirements.
- Engage in continuous professional development activities related to program implementation, outreach strategies, and cultural competency.
- Attend staff meetings, advisory committees, council meetings, and Board meetings as required to support organizational objectives.
- Assist Operations Manager with special projects including Native Youth Olympics planning, coordination, and execution.
- Maintain positive working relationships with CITC staff, program partners, community coalitions, and external stakeholders.
- Provide comprehensive assistance to all Denelchin Lab programs to enhance participant communication and program understanding.
- Maintain strict confidentiality according to regulations, policies, and procedures in all program and participant interactions.
- Perform all related duties as needed and assigned.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Continued employment is contingent upon completion of satisfactory state and federal fingerprint criminal background check.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications and Marketing, Education, Public Relations, Non-Profit Management, Business Development, or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Two (2) years of experience related to business management, communication, marketing, organizational outreach, and event management.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends, and travel as needed for outreach events, training and activities.
- Valid Alaska driver's license and insurable under CITC's automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age and have had a driver's license for at least three years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience in an Alaska Native Corporation or Alaska Non-Profit setting and/or organization serving Alaska Native and American Indian people.

- May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and consistently working on a computer with repetitive motion.
- The need to occasionally move around the office to access filing cabinets, storage cabinets, and office equipment may be necessary.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner.
