General Functions:
The Career Development Supervisor is responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and supervising positions that provide comprehensive workforce development services to Alaska Native and American Indian participants. This position assists in program development, policy implementation, grant management, and data evaluation to ensure accurate and timely reporting of outcomes. Working in partnership with our people, the Career Development Supervisor helps develop opportunities that fulfill our endless potential by promoting employment readiness and professional growth. The role requires strong leadership skills to guide a team in delivering culturally responsive workforce services that align with CITC's mission and values.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead workforce development efforts by identifying participant potential and fostering effective team communication and accountability.
- Supervise direct reports through goal development, training plan implementation, performance coaching, and annual evaluations.
- Monitor staff caseloads to ensure compliance with timeframe requirements and appropriate service delivery standards.
- Assist Manager/Senior Manager with preparing data dashboard metrics, board reports, and grant deliverables.
- Maintain proficiency in all program databases and serve as the primary point of contact for database-related questions.
- Conduct regular file reviews, provide constructive feedback to staff, and escalate policy concerns to leadership.
- Coordinate and track staff training opportunities to promote professional development and certification.
- Monitor distribution of supportive services to ensure alignment with current policies, procedures, and budgets.
- Partner with local colleges, vocational centers, and businesses to develop employment and training opportunities.
- Represent CITC at internal and external meetings, community events, and workforce development initiatives.
- Collaborate with co-workers, partner agencies, and participants using a team-based service delivery approach.
- Create standards of excellence through continuous encouragement of staff development and hands-on training.
- Conduct bi-weekly supervision meetings with direct reports to assess progress and provide guidance.
- Support team caseload maintenance when necessary and participate in monthly department meetings.
- Perform all related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Continued employment is contingent upon completion of satisfactory state and federal fingerprint criminal background check.
- Associate degree in Human Services, Human Resource Management, Social Work, Vocational Education, or closely related field. Relevant work experience may substitute for education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Two (2) years of job coaching or employment counseling experience.
- Valid Alaska driver's license and insurable under CITC's automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age and have had a driver's license for at least three years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Human Resource Management, Social Work, Vocational Education, or closely related field.
- Two (2) years of experience in social work and workforce development.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and consistently working on a computer with repetitive motion.
- The need to occasionally move around the office to access filing cabinets, storage cabinets, and office equipment may be necessary.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner.
