Thompson & Co. Public Relations is looking for an Account Manager for its Anchorage office.

T&C is Alaska’s largest and most respected public relations agency in Alaska with more than 25 years of experience serving clients in a variety of sectors including travel and tourism, telecommunications, resource development, non-profits, education, and state and local government.

Account managers should have at least five years of industry experience in public relations and communications. Industry knowledge in the areas of travel/tourism, education, telecom, and/or health care are highly desirable.

Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Lead client projects across multiple industries, scopes and timelines, ensuring goals are met or exceeded.
• Cultivate and deepen client relationships by understanding and anticipating client needs and crafting tailored strategic communication plans.
• Implement both traditional and digital public relations strategies that effectively engage and influence key stakeholders.
• Provide clients insightful updates and strategic guidance based on the latest industry developments.
• Work collaboratively with our spirited team and external partners to drive successful outcomes.
• Stay at the forefront of the news cycle, both in Alaska and across client industries.

Strong candidates will demonstrate:

• Ability to oversee multiple projects under tight deadlines and lead junior staff members effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• The ability to plan, brainstorm, think creatively and problem solve with minimal direction.
• Solid researching skills.
• Experience with a variety of social media channels.
• Experience media pitching to local, state and national journalists.
• Media list building and maintenance.
• Attention to detail.
• Desire to contribute to a growing agency environment with teams across the country.

Qualifications

• At least five years of experience in public relations or strategic communications.
• Agency experience.
• A proven history of managing complex projects and fostering productive relationships.
• Experience developing messaging and positioning for brands and campaigns.
• Bachelor’s degree in PR, journalism, marketing, communications, English or related field. Experience in a related field may be substituted for a college degree.
• Knowledge and interest in agency client industries.
• Exceptional writing skills and in-depth knowledge of AP style.
