Position Summary:
The STEAM Assistant Administrator is responsible for growing the Benteh STEAM Academy (BSA) clientele and participation. The Assistant Administrator is also responsible for assisting in the overall operations of the STEAM Academy. These duties include supervision of staff, year-round activities and events, confirming orders. The Assistant Administrator is responsible for training and mentoring STEAM Academy interns and onboarding new staff in standard with operating procedures. The Assistant Administrator supports the schedule, development, and implementation of STEM-enrichment classes and camps, community STEM events, and the mentoring and monitoring for safety of participants and volunteers.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
The successful candidate will:
- Support Benteh STEAM Academy administration as requested.
- Communicate with Knik Charter School to supplement their academic program with enrichment opportunities for students. Including but not limited to field trips.
- Maintain and monitor the BSA vehicle fleet, including but not limited to scheduling maintenance as required.
- Manage active partnerships with other providers, homeschools, and the public.
- Assist in organizing camps that utilize the lab.
- Plan and organize educational trainings for STEAM Academy staff.
- Give Fab Lab tours to visitors.
- Assist in recruiting new potential volunteers for the STEAM Academy through tours, community contact, and outreach opportunities.
- Develop relationships with potential community partners outside of KT, with the goal of sharing Fab Lab technology as well as recruitment of students.
- Coordinate the development of culturally infused STEM-enrichment education modules (project based instructible’).
- Assist in the organization of STEM-enrichment camps
- Submit data and reports on time to the director.
- Participate in scheduled community meetings as requested.
- Work as part of a team: the team includes co-workers, partner agencies and participants.
- Attend and actively participate in department meetings and trainings.
- Bring policy issues to the Management Team as they arise.
- Maintain confidentiality according to regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform all related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or year for year experience in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) or Education fields.
- Some management experience, including but not limited to budgeting, staff supervision and program/grant administration., preferred.
- Minimum two years’ experience working with a variety of design software.
- Minimum two years’ experience in working with Alaska Native/American Indian youth ages 9-18.
- Knowledge of Alaska Native and American Indian culture and/or community resources.
- Continued employment is contingent upon a report from a state and federal background check.
- Valid Alaska driver’s license and insurable under KT’s automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age and have had a driver’s license for the past 5 years.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Knowledge and experience of Knik Tribe’s Service Area and Knik Tribe’s Programs.
- Adequate understanding of all Microsoft Office Applications.
- Capable of basic maintenance for general office equipment and multi-line phone systems.
- Must pass a criminal background check and be free of barrier crimes.
- Clean driving record.
- Knowledge and application of professional and ethical conduct as guided by Knik Tribal Council Personnel Manual Section 8.1.

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Salary: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour DOE/E. Plus full benefits: Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid leave and holidays, and retirement plan with matching contributions.
