Cook Inlet Region, Inc is seeking a talented Yah (Dena'ina: "grow") Executive to join our Executive team. CIRI's offices are conveniently located in mid-town Anchorage at the Fireweed Business Center, a modern building that represents CIRI’s cultural diversity, respect for the land, and sustainability. The Fireweed Business Center reflects our heritage in the displayed Alaska Native art and interior design.
Cook Inlet Region, Inc., also known as CIRI, is one of 12 land-based Alaska Native regional corporations created pursuant to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA). CIRI’s regional boundaries roughly follow the traditional Dena’ina territory of Southcentral Alaska. CIRI was incorporated on June 8, 1972, and is owned today by a diverse group of more than 9,500 Shareholders who live in Alaska and throughout the world.

CIRI offers a hybrid work schedule for employees based in Anchorage, AK. The Yah Executive can be based in Anchorage, AK, Washington, D.C. or offers a fully remote schedule should the incumbent live outside of Washington, D.C. or Anchorage, AK. Remote employees are required to travel to the corporate office on a regular schedule.

Program Overview
The Yah Program is designed to identify and develop future leaders by fostering creativity, innovation and executive-level growth. It prepares CIRI Shareholders and confirmed Descendants for leadership roles within CIRI, its subsidiaries and affiliate organizations by providing exposure to CIRI’s business lines, strategy and operations, and ANCSA/mission critical programs, benefits and services.
In the first year, the Yah Executive will be placed at CIRI, reporting directly to the CEO, with an individual development plan (IDP) tailored to their skills and interests. From years two through six, CIRI will support their placement across CIRI, its subsidiaries, affiliate organization and external business partners to expand their leadership experience.
Program Details
• Duration: Six years
• Location (year one): Anchorage, AK; Washington, D.C.; or remote
• Travel: 50-75% required
• Years 2-6: Rotational placements internally or externally
• Mentorship: Assigned CIRI Executive for full six years
Application Deadline
Applications are accepted year-round, with up to two full-time Yah Executive positions filled annually as needed.
General Function
In alignment with CIRI’s mission, values and policies, this six-year program is designed to provide CIRI Shareholders and confirmed Descendants with professional growth, executive-level development and opportunities to expand CIRI’s executive talent pool. The Yah Executive will play a key role in supporting CIRI leadership by providing executive level assistance, serving as a liaison between internal and external contacts and overseeing special projects. Additionally, they will represent CIRI at business, community and Shareholder and Descendant meetings and events. The ideal candidate will demonstrate innovation, strategic thinking and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
